The Tribal Secondary English and Mathematics programmes are designed to further develop competences in 4 major areas. This is linked to a national award set against rigorous standards laid out in the I&E subject documentation. The award is available to those departments already working to the specified standards, and for those working towards meeting the criteria over time (e.g. an academic year). This is not just about ‘results’. The I&E process is about how departments function as teams, the quality of leadership at all levels, how pedagogy is continuously improved, and about how each team member approaches their own personal and professional development.

What does it entail?

The process includes a complete evaluation in the 4 areas below and aims to create the conditions necessary for further improvements:

  • Leadership for Improvement
  • Pedagogy and Practice
  • Reviewing Performance, Provision and Priorities
  • Effective Collaboration, Relationships and Partnerships
  • Who is it for?

This booklet is aimed at Head of Departments in secondary education providers pursuing an initial accreditation or seeking to renew an existing Improvement and Excellence award.
